Features
This one of a kind 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder (Beck/Special Editions Inc.) was assembled over the course of 3 years. Originally ordered as a kit from the factory in Bremen Indiana in the Summer of 2019, the car was a test to the skilled workers in the factory when every detail was added to the basic Spyder build sheet.

Starting with the exterior, items and details from the original car that are unlikely to be found on other replicas are as follows: The factory extended the frame in the front to allow for functional jack points, they also created recessed horn pockets to fit original Hella horns, A one-off, custom oil cooler pocket was designed to fit a functional oil-cooler behind grill, full size custom gas tank installed with period correct hold downs. The hood and rear tail section utilize function key latched just like the original. This Spyder also includes both a single and full length plexi windshield that can be easily swapped while utilizing the rivet-nut fasteners in the body.

Moving to the interior, you will find that the attention to detail continues with: Proper rear firewall shape which molds around the seats, a custom Porsche 550 accelerator pedal, the chassis had a cross-member installed in the cockpit just like the original for both added rigidity and proper aesthetics which allow for the 550 handbrake to be mounted as per the original cars design. This Spyder had an aluminum skinned floor installed as well for easy cleaning. Looking at the dash you will notice Porsche VDO 550 Gauges refaced by Palo Alto Gauges. And for the perfect driving position the period correct Tan Barber-pole vinyl upholstery fit the bill.

One detail that will set this car apart from every other Beck Spyder in North America is the proper shaped rear end. This rear end was molded from a real 550 in Dubai and shipped to Bremen for fitment to this Spyder and one other that was sent to Germany. Those who are eagle-eyed will appreciate this detail that really commits to the accuracy of the build.

Other notable details are the body mounted inner fender wells, the correct 16” wide five wheels custom made for this cars offset to include the period accurate 20mm spacers in the rear, the Disc rotors were also fitted for the correct 14mmm studs versus the 12mm.

The motor is a 1776cc Aircooled VW with dual 40mm Carbs
It is mounted to a 4speed Transaxle with 4:12 gearing, perfect for both city and freeway driving.
Shifting is a breeze with the PBS cable shifter.
